The visit to Cubo was to learn the CEO's perspective on running a creative business. The ups and downs also his experience of from being an "artist" to switch on to his business mind.

Branding in the communication industry.

Their MD emphasised a lot to build real culture and real connection in the creative space with clients. Value face to face interaction with clients, and building that human relationship.

There are more people interested in brands then used to be.  A lot of the clients do not familiar with the process of developing a brand, this is where the agency comes in and explain the processes. The key stakeholders, competitors and insights gatherings.

In the long run, how do you get consumers to believe what you say?

  • Building on long term relaions and use facts to prove.

  • Building on emotion connection

  • Let the business living the promised rather than saying it

Insights on working in the creative business

Trust your feelings in the creative space, that is to prepare yourself with the capacity to deal with ambiguity. Innovation processes can be all over the place and have to logic.

The ability to keep the innovation process agile and refine the creative process is curical but hard to develop.

Employee of creativity

Employees would have the freedom to be creative at the same time working in a structured creative process, also give employees the opportunity to recognise self - responsibility.

Advice to 20-year-old self

We asked their MD if you could go back in time, what advice would you give to your 20-year-old self?

And his answer was genuine, heart felted and encouraging.

He said:

To work out what your appetite for risk is and then push yourself to take more and bigger ones than you think you are comfortable with.

Embrace the idea of taking risks in business, idea creation, travelling, sport and your social life...

If you haven't worked out your appetite for risk yet and how you can push it ( at 20 ) then start now and it will become part of you and lead you to many of the most memorable moments in your life ( even if some of those moments turn out to be unsuccessful ones)

I was personally inspired by his well thought words, and decided to live a "trial and error" life in my 20s.

It takes a huge amount of courage to try different things in life and take your whole heart with you every time you've decided to try something new. To gain new experiences. And even admit some of the mistakes you made along the way.
